January 2013 - 25th Ward Trinity District RFP
Request for Proposals: National Register Historic District Document
The Carondelet Community Betterment Federation is hereby soliciting proposals from qualified consultants or consulting teams to complete one national register district nomination in Ward 25 on behalf of the City of St. Louis Community Development Agency and Cultural Resources Office. This RFP includes some tasks that must be performed by Preservation Professionals who are certified under 36 CFR Part 61. Click here for full RFP and instructions.

After concentrating its recent efforts in north St. Louis, Habitat for Humanity St. Louis is turning South. The not-for-profit home builder wants to build five two-story homes on Bates Street in South City's Carondelet Neighborhood. The plans must be approved by the city of St. Louis' Cultural Resources Office, the St. Louis Community Development Agency and the Missouri State Historic Preservation Office.read more

Antiques Dealer finds 19th Century Cannon Replica to grace South Side Park
While serving in the U.S. Army and Navy, Noel Stasiak found himself in three war zones: Vietnam once and Iraq twice. "And not a scratch on me," said Stasiak, a South City resident. These days, Stasiak takes things a bit easier. He and his wife own Leigh and Noel's Antique Adventure on South Broadway. An antique shop is a long way from a war zone for this retired military man, who served his last tour in Iraq at age 59. Stasiak enjoyed military life so much he enlisted in the U.S. Navy following a stretch in the Army. "I was a Seabee," Stasiak said, referring to the Navy's storied construction battalion. But when he's not selling antiques, Stasiak still likes to engage in a bit of action.read more
